Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Evgeny Zagainov as Russia’s Permanent Representative to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This decree published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
The text reads: “To appoint Yevgeny Timofeevich Zagainov as the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia”.
Other decree the head of state dismissed the permanent representative Alexander Ivanov.
Evgeny Zagainov has been the Director of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation since February 2018, and before that was the Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN. He holds the diplomatic rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, 2nd class, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
