Was the parliamentary protest of people with disabilities and their carers, led by KO MP Iwona Hartwich, interrupted…because of Donald Tusk? “She has not discussed the idea of running it together with Civic Platform” – reports the weekly “Wprost”.
Behind the scenes of the end of the protest
The parliamentary protest of people with disabilities and their carers, led by KO MP Iwona Hartwich, began on March 6 and ended after 19 days. Health issues were officially cited as the reason for the “suspension” (as she put it) of the protest.

Or was it about politics? The backstage was described by the weekly magazine “Wprost”.
We were able to determine that the MP did not consult the Civic Coalition with the idea of running it together with the Civic Platform. Donald Tusk did not visit the protesters during the strike
– we read in “Parliamentary indiscretions”.
The magazine’s interlocutor revealed:
Hartwich went on strike without agreement with the party, which was not in Tusk’s favour. If he were to visit the demonstrators, PiS would have a place in his day with the head of the PO and disability care benefits. That would be a problem.
Hartwich doesn’t like the government idea
The demonstrators presented a civil bill on social pension. Meanwhile, the family ministry has prepared a proposal to create a new disability benefit, and importantly, this announcement was made after a meeting of the ministry’s management with a group of protesters from the OzN- movement (People with Disabilities). .

We see this as a good signal, a signal of understanding for our policy and for the solutions we have put forward
– and this is what the Deputy Minister of Family and Social Policy Paweł Wdówik said on Friday, referring to the end of the protest in the Sejm.
However, MP Hartwich did not like the proposal from the Department of Labor and Social Policy, nor the statement from the Deputy Minister.
Mr Wdówik and his propaganda. The protest concerned the increase of the social pension to the lowest national amount. There is no understanding or support for your other proposed solutions. Please keep this in mind. Don’t lie or manipulate people. It’s disgusting!
she wrote on Twitter on Sunday.
And it suffices to recall how the MP argued during the last time in the Sejm that it was not a “political protest”…
– That was easy to predict! Hartwich criticizes the agreement on people with disabilities. And what does one of the mothers who spoke to the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy say?
– How much has the social pension increased over the years? Hartwich wealth declaration: 2018 – PLN 8,012.60; 2022 – 17,410.56 złoty
