Health Minister Humza Yousaf won the election as leader of the ruling Scottish National Party and will be appointed Scotland’s new First Minister. It has been reported Reuters

The agency states that Yusaf, who was declared the winner of the first ministerial race in Scotland’s semi-autonomous government, will be the first Muslim to rule the country in Western Europe.

After the election results were announced, Yousaf said “Scotland needs independence more than ever” and pledged to win over those who oppose secession from the UK.

He also said the UK government plans to appeal a decision passed by the Scottish Parliament to block a bill that would make it easier for people to change their legal gender.

Humza Yousaf, 37, was born in Glasgow, his father is Pakistani and came to Scotland in the 1960s, and his mother was born in Kenya to South Asian parents.

Formerly Humza Yousaf, Edinburgh’s post-independence to reject from monarchy for five years and replace King Charles with an elected head of state.

According to surveys, currently only 39% of people in Scotland Support withdrawal from England. At the same time, 47% of Scots want to remain part of the UK.
