Poland has already received more than PLN 100 million in aid from the European Peace Facility; we hope that by the end of April the Polish budget can receive support of up to PLN 1 billion – EU Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk said in Poznań on Monday.
Refinancing for expenses incurred
Szynkowski vel Sek, referring to Monday’s European Council summit, stressed that the European Peace Facility creates refinancing opportunities for countries that support Ukraine by transferring arms to it. As he added, Poland is a country that provides very significant support to Ukraine. In this context, the minister mentioned the transfer of tanks, among other things.
Thanks to the decisions taken at the European Council Summit, Poland will be able to receive very substantial refinancing for the costs incurred in connection with the disposal of this equipment. Poland has already received more than PLN 100 million in aid from the European Peace Facility (…). In the coming weeks we will be able to receive further hundreds of millions of aid, we hope that this aid, refinancing, can reach the Polish budget in the amount of up to PLN 1 billion by the end of April
said the EU minister.
Thanks to the decisions to increase this fund, it is now clear that Poland will ultimately be the biggest beneficiary. At the moment it can be said that the support in the perspective of several years is already guaranteed at the level of PLN 4 billion, but we are constantly striving for more. Today we can say that we have guaranteed a refinancing of PLN 4 billion for the coming years
– emphasized Szynkowski vel Sęk.

Ministerial meeting with Ukraine
At the conference in Poznań, Szynkowski vel Sek announced that a team had been set up to prepare the program of the Polish presidency in the EU in 2025. He emphasized that it would be based on the expectations of various ministries and would contain postulates related to, among others. with economic cooperation and security policy, including energy security, and with the enlargement of the EU.
He said that next Wednesday there would be a meeting of the European Affairs Committee devoted to the plans of the Polish Presidency.
The third point concerns – as he said – the meeting of the ministers of European affairs of the Weimar Triangle, which will take place on May 12 at the castle in Kórnik near Poznań. He notes that Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Olha Stefanishina, responsible for European integration, also confirmed her participation in the meeting.
The main topic will be issues related to EU enlargement, with particular emphasis on Ukraine, but not only, as we will also talk about the European perspective of Moldova and the countries of the Western Balkans
said the minister.
He added that part of the discussion would also be devoted to institutional matters in the EU.
Putin’s threats to nuclear weapons
Vladimir Putin announced on Saturday that Russia intends to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. According to Putin, Russia, including Belarus, has 10 aircraft capable of carrying nuclear missiles, and warehouses must be built by June 1 to store these weapons.
The EU minister at Monday’s press conference in Poznań, when asked about this information, stated that it was an element of escalation, “at the moment a story, because it is an announcement”.
The response should be calm, but also firm
he noticed.
Calm down, because we cannot be intimidated by Russian propagandists, and the Russian president very often uses this propaganda to try to scare the West, which should have a “chilling” effect, the West is afraid to help Ukraine, fear of introducing even more far-reaching sanctions
said the minister.
We cannot be afraid, we should not approach such statements with emotions. On the other hand, we must continue our very strong support to Ukraine
he stressed.
Szynkowski vel Sęk added that Russia should be punished if it does not stop using aggression in its foreign policy.
In this way, as the minister said, we need to send a clear signal to Russia, and to the whole world, that “aggression, war crimes committed against civilians, and the violation of international law cannot be a means of pursue.”
If the state applies them, it not only fails, it fails. It is punished and generations have to bear the consequences of such decisions for decades. This should be our answer to Russia
– said Szynkowski aka Sęk.
