Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant made statements after his dismissal. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed him.
Galant wrote on Twitter: “The security of the State of Israel has always been and will remain my life’s mission.”
His resignation took place on March 26 due to Galante’s criticism of judicial reform. The reform caused a split in Israeli society and nationwide protests.
If the reform is completed successfully, the parliamentary majority will have control over the selection of Supreme Court justices, which will forfeit the right to overturn Cabinet decisions.
A group of protesters went to government buildings in Tel Aviv and blocked traffic. They, too, went to Galant’s home in Amikam settlement in the north of the country to express their support for the ousted minister.
