During the meeting with the participants of the Campus Academy in Sosnowiec, Donald Tusk paid a lot of attention to the Confederation. The PO leader constantly claimed that the group co-founded by Sławomir Mentzen would collaborate with PiS. He didn’t have to wait long for an answer.
Tusk came to the meeting of Campus Academy participants with a book entitled “Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century” by American historian Timothy Snyder. In discussing Lesson 17, entitled “Listen to Dangerous Words,” he referred to the Confederate program. He also pointed to the likelihood that PiS and the Confederacy – if they manage to get a majority – would form a single government.
If the Confederation’s official five-point program reads: Poland without gays, Poland without Jews, Poland without taxes, Poland without abortion, without the European Union. (…) If you see how close some leaders of the current governing party are to this line of thinking, you will understand
Tusk said.
He added that “if these people rule our homeland, it will mean that there will be no place in Poland for a woman who wants her rights and her independence, that there will be no place for other sexual orientations in Poland.”
According to the PO leader, the official program of “the party so close to PiS and Kaczyński is to take Poland out of the European Union immediately”.
They talk about it openly, but is Ziobro or Kaczyński really different from them?
– He asked.
He stressed that it is possible to leave the European Union in Poland without a referendum.
In Poland you don’t need the approval of the majority of voters, in Poland it is the decision of those who have the majority in the Sejm
Tusk said.
I want to tell you this very clearly. If the Confederation and PiS rule Poland after the next election, it means that these are the last years of Poland’s presence in the EU, that we are doomed to loneliness in a situation where uncertainty about the political future in the United States, in some European countries, uncertainty about the fate on the eastern side of the border will cause instability for years to come, including geopolitical instability
he pointed it out.
Menzen answers
A rather curious answer to Tusk’s arguments was given by Sławomir Mentzen.
We’re going for a double-digit result, and Tusk can jump where Morawiecki can kiss me
replied the Confederate politician.
The unparliamentary form of Sławomir Mentzen’s answer is arguable, but it must be admitted that it shows how much truth there is in Donald Tusk’s claims.
