Poland plans to launch new technological lines for ammunition production, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced in an interview with RMF FM. He also announced efforts to multiply production as quickly as possible.
When asked about the possibility of co-financing defense production in Poland from the European Union, the prime minister said that not only the defense factory Dezamet, belonging to the Polish armaments group, can count on new orders and EU funds.
Morawiecki also said he was counting on the initiative of private entities to start ammunition production.
On Thursday I had a longer conversation with Chancellor (German Olaf – PAP) Scholz and we also talked about ammunition. He told me that he wanted the two largest private companies to start increased ammunition production as soon as possible, in this case with support from the German state. We want to do that too
announced the head of government.
The need to catch up with Russia
The prime minister noted that the Russians use a million missiles a month, so production for Ukraine should be increased.
The Ukrainians use 2 to 5 thousand, even 6 thousand shells, and the Russians use 20 to 60,000 shells. This means that the Russians consume more than a million shells per month, so this production should be enough
– assessed the head of government.
The Prime Minister also announced that he would persuade the EU to purchase ammunition outside the Community, for example in South Korea.
There are a few areas in the world, including South Korea, Israel, where there is a lot more of this munitions. So I hope that our joint discussions with the European Commission, several key countries, Poland, Germany and France will lead to a rapid acquisition of ammunition, because Ukraine needs this ammunition here and now
said Morawiecki.
