“We are working on the eleventh package of sanctions. Sooner or later it will happen,” Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on RMF FM.
The head of government pointed out that in addition to the imposition of a new package of sanctions on Russia by the EU, it is also important to tighten up the existing packages.
In addition to the 11th package of sanctions, we must also talk about sealing the existing packages. When I talk to diplomats in Brussels, avoiding sanctions is a bit of a substitute topic for subsequent packages
he said.
“You can already see the fatigue of the material”
Prime Minister Morawiecki admitted that the EU is already tired of what is happening in Ukraine.
The wear of the material is already visible. That is why Poland’s role is important in convincing our partners that what is happening in Ukraine is absolutely unacceptable, that we as Europe are living in a crucial historical moment and that we must respond appropriately. I am cautiously optimistic that we can convince our partners for further packages
– he said.
The head of government also commented on Poland’s actions against the Belarusian Lukashenko regime.
We close further passages, or at least restrict them. We are responsible for the beautiful when it comes to Lukashenko’s actions and he knows it very well. In any case, we have sent a very clear signal that if there is further repression, if this repression is reinforced, we will respond accordingly by further blocking Belarusian trade. Recently in Poland I met the wife of Nobel laureate Ales Byalyatski, who told me how brutally Lukashenko treats those who express, even in the softest way, their opposition to his ruthless regime. Poland must respond here. Here in Brussels, together with Lithuania, it must be said, we are one of the few to openly raise the issue of Belarus
he said.
