White House National Security Council strategic communications coordinator John Kirby said during a briefing that US President Joe Biden wanted to keep communication channels open with China, and President Xi Jinping’s visit did not change this stance. “The president wants channels of communication with China to remain open. Nothing has changed about that,” Kirby said.
According to him, the American side will continue to meet with the Chinese leader “at the appropriate time”.
