All of Poland has seen, and we have all been surprised over the years, how much Russian coal imports have grown during the time when Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was in power and still is in Poland; Polish coal was threatened by imports of Russian coal – said the head of PO Donald Tusk on Tuesday.
At a press conference in Racibórz (Silesian Voivodeship), Tusk was asked about Prime Minister Morawiecki’s speech at the conference “We protect Poland” on Tuesday. Among other things, the head of government said:
After all, we cut off Russian coal as soon as possible. We were among the first. And don’t forget that a few months after we imposed the embargo, our political opponents started reminding us of this. “Why did you do it? Isn’t it too early?” What, I asked – you wanted to feed the Russian war machine, I asked Tusk. To this day he has not responded.
Among other things, the prime minister also said the opposition was threatening 2022 and predicted electricity would be “so expensive in winter that it would be cut off in households after 1pm”. 20″, “people had to freeze in the streets, they had to freeze in their houses, bread would cost 30 zlotys and fuel would cost 10 zlotys”.
I do not want to use too strong words about Prime Minister Morawiecki and his legendary truthfulness
– said the chairman of the PO, referring to the statement of the head of government.
All of Poland has seen, and we have all been surprised over the years, how much Russian coal imports have grown during Prime Minister Morawiecki’s time in power and still are in Poland. Even the fact that we know that it is not Prime Minister Morawiecki who makes decisions, but it does not relieve him of his responsibility, even if he is only a puppet in the hands of the PiS party and the president (PiS, Jarosław) Kaczyński, it does not relieve him of his responsibility
Tusk said.
After all, he is, at least formally, the Prime Minister of the Polish government and we were all amazed to read these statistics, how much Russian coal imports have grown since the first months of the PiS government
Tusk added.
According to the head of the PO, “Polish coal was threatened by imports of Russian coal.”
The party lost the election because of the so-called band scandal. It was then, when I decided to limit the import of Russian coal, then the so-called, to minimize the tire scandal. Today no one doubts who had an interest in seeing power in Poland taken over by people who would restore the large-scale importation of Russian coal. Prime Minister Morawiecki should be ashamed. He’s the last person who should be talking about this
Tusk said.
He added that Prime Minister Morawiecki “is proud that the PiS authorities have overcome the coal crisis”.
Mr. Morawiecki, you are an MP from this province. Come and listen to what people tell me every day in meetings, (…) what was the feeling here in Silesia, when the head of the municipality or some local government official had to send people to Gdańsk, to me, to Gdańsk for coal. For the first time in history, people from Silesia went to Gdańsk to collect coal. You have nothing to brag about
– said the leader of the platform.
Yes – he added – “what is there nothing to brag about whoever decided to buy this half coal, half mud from, I don’t know, Indonesia, from Colombia.”
How can you boast, especially if you are a member of parliament from Silesia, that people survived the winter. I have not heard anyone from the opposition say that someone will freeze in the street
Tusk said.
He added that he had heard statements and warned himself that “it is impossible for people to live in fear and panic for many weeks from October that there will be no coal, not even in Silesia, for basic needs such as heating the apartment .”
Tusk called on Morawiecki to return to his constituency, hold open meetings with residents and hear what people are saying about his rule.
Tusk and the Russians
Tusk’s supposedly anti-Russian stance today may come as a surprise. In 2014, Tusk spoke on TOK FM about Russia:
Let’s imagine that Poland is ruled by Jarosław Kaczyński, who would try to force the countries of the region, such as Hungarians and Slovaks, to take a radically anti-Russian stance
he said.
If Poland were to attack as Jarosław Kaczyński suggested, we would all the more lose the opportunity to influence the common behaviour, such as solidarity, of the entire European Union. Today, most countries of the European Union do not want to quarrel with Russia
he argued.
When the idea of energy sanctions against Russia then appeared, Tusk said it was frivolous, and “his goal” was that “whatever happens east of the Polish border should also be used for political advantage”.

“Just Keep the Stool”
This authority will not shy away from rogue states to keep their seats, the head of PO Donald Tusk said in Racibórz on Tuesday. According to him, since the hate scandal involving officials of the Justice Department, officials have died from hatred organized by the authorities.
During a briefing in Racibórz, the chairman of the Civic Platform was asked to comment on the so-called hate scandal in connection with, among other things, information from the Onet.pl portal that the court in Katowice on Monday announced the decision of the Kielce prosecutor’s office to open the investigation into to stop the defamation of Judge Waldemar Żurek. The prosecutor’s office said it could not determine who “Mała Emi”, the biggest hater, was. It was Judge Żurek who appealed against the decision of the public prosecutor to drop the case.
We know very well that the famous hate scandal was just the beginning of what happened later in Poland. Hate scandals, such acts of organized hatred and contempt, have become the basic tool of this power
– reviewed Tusk in Racibórz.
Since the famous hate scandal involving Ministry of Justice officials – we actually forgot that in Poland high ranking Ministry of Justice officials organized hate, online hate against their opponents – people have been killed since then, because of hate speech organized by the authorities statements
– he said.
I have no expectations from this authority. I don’t think she will hold people who organize hate accountable, because this power organizes this hate itself
– declared the head of the PO.
The best commentary on this will be the prosecutor’s comment after winning the election, which will ultimately affect all those who today use public money, public tools to corner people, attack political opponents, eavesdropping, surveillance
he switched.
After all, we have been dealing with actions for years that indicate that this authority will not leave it to any villain to keep the posts
– rated Donald Tusk.
Kraków District Court Judge Waldemar Żurek, even before the so-called of the hate scandal, filed a report with the Kraków Prosecutor’s Office regarding three online haters, including “Little Emi”, whose actions targeted him. The case reported by Judge Żurek was then transferred from Krakow to Kielce.
Articles published by Onet in the second half of August 2019 revealed that then-deputy head of MS Łukasz Piebiak engaged on social media with a woman named Emilia, who allegedly campaigned to discredit some judges, including head from Iustitia Prof. Krystian Markiewicz. This would be done with the knowledge of the Secretary of State.
According to Onet, a closed group called “Kasta” would be set up on the WhatsApp messenger, which exchanged ideas for defaming some judges. According to reports from Onet, the hate actions would also include members of the National Court Registry: Maciej Nawacki and Jarosław Dudzicz, Supreme Court Judge Konrad Wytrykowski and Justice Delegate Judge Jakub Iwaniec. After these reports, Piebiak resigned and Iwaniec was released from his delegation to the MS. Wytrykowski stated that the information in Onet’s publication is untrue and damages his good name and reputation.
On the occasion of his resignation as deputy minister, Piebiak declared that he would firmly defend his good name, for which he had worked all his life. In June 2021, Piebiak won a libel lawsuit against Onet’s editor-in-chief, Bartosz Węglarczyk.
On August 21, 2019, the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into abuse of power by government officials holding positions in the Ministry of Justice. However, the proceedings were subsequently transferred to the Lublin Regional Prosecutor’s Office. According to Onet, in February 2021, by decision of Deputy Ziobro, the investigation was transferred from the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Świdnica.
