The upcoming parliamentary elections will be a choice between what was and what is now. That is, between disarming Poland, neglecting the interests of the Polish state and strengthening Polish security, the Polish military said, Deputy Foreign Minister Piotr Wawrzyk said in Kielce.
Poland’s security
Meeting with the citizens of Kielce, Wawrzyk compared the situation Poland was in in 2015, before the takeover of Law and Justice, and what it is in now.
We would not have modern armaments to fill the shortages resulting from the transfer of armaments to Ukraine. Nor would we have thousands of Territorial Forces soldiers defending the Polish border when it was attacked from the Belarusian side – none of this would have happened if Civic Platform had been in power after 2015
– said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. He also asked: “what chance would Ukraine have then?”.
Like the one that was attacked in 2014, devoid of support from Poland and the West, who only dreamed of de-escalation and said that you need to talk to Putin and that you cannot annoy him by supporting Ukraine. That was also the motto of the Polish government in 2014
– declared Wawrzyk, recalling the words of the then Prime Minister of the Polish Government, Donald Tusk, that “Poland will not be anti-Russian”.
But Mr. Tusk, this was not about anti-Russism, but about defending Polish interests and Polish security. We, as Law and Justice, are not anti-Russian. We are simply defending the interests of the Polish state and the security of the Poles
– emphasized the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He added that “luckily in 2015 Law and Justice won the election”.
We defended the border with Belarus against the influx of immigrants, including those associated with the Russian services. As the past few days have shown, we were able to expose and arrest those who threatened the security of the Polish state. The Polish state has shown that it is safe and can ensure the safety of its citizens, that Russian agents have no business here, because we can handle them
said Wawrzyk.
A very simple choice
According to him, the choice for the Poles in the upcoming parliamentary elections is “contrary to appearances, very simple”.
This will not be a vote for PSL, PO, for the left, for this Poland of the mid-21st century, or rather 20th or 19th century. It will be a choice between one of these groups and Law and Justice
said the MP from the ruling party.
A choice between what used to be, i.e. disarm Poles, ignore the interests of the Polish state, make sure that the Poles are safe, so that there are no activities of Russian agents in our country, and what is now, which is to strengthen the Polish security, the Polish army, and a vigorous defense of Polish interests in the international arena, in the North Atlantic Alliance and within the European Union
– added. He stressed that the elections will also determine whether we will have energy security or whether we will be independent from Russia in this regard, as we do.
We were able to build the Baltic Pipe, nobody could have done it before, because nobody cared. Energy resources, as Law and Justice has long reiterated, are an instrument of political struggle in Russian hands. It is we who have created a situation where Poland is not dependent on Russia’s energy resources
– said the Deputy Minister, referring to the slogan of the PiS politicians’ election meetings with voters “The future is Poland”.
Will Poland be a fully independent, sovereign country pursuing Polish interests? Will the Polish government put the interests of Polish women and Poland, the Polish state, first, as the PiS government does? Will it be a government that implements directives from Brussels, Berlin and Paris? That’s what this election is about
noted Wawrzyk.
Krupka: “If you want peace, prepare for war”
Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism Anna Krupka spoke about the Law on Defense of the Fatherland that was passed more than a year ago.
The law assumes an increase in military spending, but also creates mechanisms to increase the size of the Polish army and restore the reserve system. According to the old old rule – “if you want peace, prepare for war”
Krupka said. She cited data according to which Poland spent about PLN 37 billion on armaments in 2015 and more than PLN 97 billion in 2023.
This is an increase of over 160%. In 2023, we will spend almost 3 percent of GDP on armaments. Polish GDP. This is very important for our defense industry, it will facilitate its development. We spend a lot more on armaments, because safety is our priority, which we desperately need these days
– emphasized the Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism.
