Tusk: We want to extract Polish coal
At a meeting of the parliamentary club of the citizens’ coalition, Donald Tusk and politicians from his party are currently visiting Silesia. During today’s visit to Katowice, the Chairman of the PO argued:
We want to extract Polish coal and this is not the least bit contrary to the idea of energy transformation. Silesia can and will be an industrial power, coal will be mined in Silesian mines and at the same time the dream of especially young generations of Silesians about green Silesia, where there is cheap energy, which will become a scientific center, will come true.

How do such statements relate to the activities of the PO-PSL government in 2007-2015, including events before Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa? How does this relate to statements made by politicians from various opposition groups who spoke of the need to abandon coal, close mines and accelerate energy transformation? We put these questions to PiS MP Grzegorz Matusiak. Before starting his political activity, our interlocutor worked in the Zofiówka coal mine. In 2015, he supported miners protesting for JSW, and on February 23 of this year, filed a lawsuit against Donald Tusk, whom he accuses of lying about the events of the JSW protests (Tusk claimed no miners were injured as a result of police action).
He could mine coal when he was prime minister and then head of the European Council. Then he had the opportunity to make decisions in this area, today, in the opposition, everyone wants to do miracles. In my opinion, Donald Tusk is not a credible person to be trusted

It was under his rule that Poland had the highest unemployment rate. And just like he used to say he didn’t have a wand, today he’s driving around and waving that wand, but it’s only on paper, because in reality there’s no chance of

The leader of the PO states today that the extraction of Polish coal does not contradict the energy transformation. However, do his words not contradict statements by politicians from individual opposition parties (including the PO) that transformation should be accelerated and the transition away from coal pursued?
We are currently at war over the eastern border. Moreover, Putin has declared an energy war on Europe. All hydrocarbons have been frozen, prices have risen very high, Europe has become dependent on supplies from Russia and we are seeing the consequences today

As a government, we have been very careful, especially in the decisions that Brussels requires. Let me remind you that one of the opposition leaders, Rafał Trzaskowski, believed that Turów should be closed because he could afford to pay higher prices for energy. However, it is clear that, unfortunately, there are no people who can be trusted among his employees
