– said Saturday at a meeting with residents of Olecko (Warmian-Masurian) Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak.
“Poland is such a challenge for us”
John Paul II – as judged by Błaszczak – is a very important element of our identity. Therefore – in his opinion – “if someone wants to break the backbone of Poland, they beat John Paul II.”
The head of the Ministry of National Defense also recalled the Pope’s words on Westerplatte, which he addressed to young people during his pilgrimage to Poland.
The pope said that everyone should have a Westerplatte in their life, that is, a task to which they are faithful. Even if it seems that this task is very difficult to accomplish, you should not give up, succumb, abandon, you must perform such a task. Poland is such a task for us
Blaszczak said.
