“I have always been in favor of one opposition list and I will not change my opinion on this. However, we don’t look too much at what the opposition is doing, we need to focus on what we need to do. I emphasize that perhaps PiS’s greatest enemy is PiS itself. We must not trip over our own feet. On the other hand, all the media activity of the past few days is an obvious attempt to help Tusk deliver on what he promised after his return to Poland, which was to create a single opposition list. Tusk did not lead to this and this is his failure. He also promised that by the end of the year KO would be well above 30 percent in the polls. Tusk bounced back and supported at the more than 30 percent level. there is no KO, currently KO has less support than when Grzegorz Schetyna resigned from the post of PO chairman, says Krzysztof Sobolewski, Member of Parliament, Secretary General of PiS, in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal.
wPolityce.pl: Is it true that PiS, together with Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski, is responsible for attacking St. John Paul II to defend the Polish pope? mec. Roman Giertych presented such a theory in the Tomasz Lis program.
Christopher Sobolewski: If stupidity could fly, Mr. Giertych’s “horse” would be leaving the solar system at that very moment. It is difficult to comment on the statements that appear in the edition of such television in the district.
However, from the side of KO politicians, for example, there are also accusations against PiS that you use the figure of St. John Paul II for political purposes. Maybe PiS has some people in the TVN station?
Yes, we have taken over the supervision of TVN and decide on the materials that this channel releases. More absurd propositions cannot be advanced, but as you can see from our opponents, the question of rationality is problematic there. Such theorems can only be made by people who, as I said before, are leaving our solar system and heading for another.
Looking at the latest election polls from a number of research labs, it’s clear that support for PiS has been on the rise recently. This can even be seen in the Kantar studio’s study for “Fakty” TVN. What do you think are the reasons for these increases?
They stem from the fact that we have weathered a difficult time and are now doing everything we can to continue it. Everyone knows that we have a crisis related to Russian aggression against Ukraine, but we are doing everything we can to minimize the negative consequences of this situation. We made it in winter when Donald Tusk predicted that there would be no light, no hot water, no heating and that bread would cost 30 zlotys. None of this came true, the search for this bread for PLN 30 is still ongoing. At the moment we are continuing what has always been our showcase: meetings with Poland about the program. For us, Poles are experts in the program and we want to hear from Poles how they would see the future, what they fear, but also what they expect. This is what the series of meetings under the motto “The future is Poland” is all about. Today Prime Minister Błaszczak and I are in Olecko, tomorrow Prime Minister Sasin is in Wysokie Mazowieckie. Meanwhile, meetings of other PiS politicians are being held all over Poland. We talk about our program and what we want to propose, and at the same time we talk about what we have already done. This scores with Poland.
You say that there is currently a crisis situation in Poland in connection with, among other things, the war in Ukraine, inflation is still very high. Donald Tusk may not have shown the aforementioned bread for PLN 30, but he found a “schaboszczak” from Biedronka for almost PLN 21 per kilogram. The PO tries to use the problem of high prices in the shops in the pre-campaign. Do you think it can be effective?
We all see the increase in prices in stores, but it’s driven by what we’re seeing beyond our eastern border. This determines the situation not only in Poland, but also in the world in general. We are taking measures to mitigate the impact of these increases. But as for the famous quest for “schaboszczak” in shops on both sides of the Vistula River in Warsaw and the evidence that it is very expensive – as you can see, PO ratings are falling with the rise in prices. Therefore, rather than the Platform, I would rather not try to expose this topic, because the more they do it, the lower their ratings will be in direct proportion.
If elections were held next Sunday, would PiS stay in power?
Yes, I am convinced that PiS will win an independent majority. At the same time, we will correct the mistake of losing the Senate – we will get the Senate back.
So, as I understand it, you are talking generally about the results of the autumn elections. What do you think the result would be if the elections were held now?
If the election were to take place this Sunday, I would also be optimistic about its outcome.
Is it specifically the case of PiS’s defense of St. In your opinion, was John Paul II significant to the current rises in the PiS poll?
It is difficult for me to judge this, but one thing is certain: the foundations of being Polish, the authority that is John Paul II for Poland, were touched. Attempts have been made to undermine what Poland is built on, and it is built on Christian values. St. John Paul II is also a symbol of the fall of communism. If not for St. John Paul II, communism in another form would probably still be in Poland. The attack on John Paul II, as you can see, has ended very bitterly for those behind it, but it has taught them nothing, because attempts to attack John Paul II are still ongoing, which we certainly oppose will oppose, defend the honor and dignity of Saint John Paul II. John Paul II.
During the meeting with voters in Bytom, Donald Tusk answered, among other things: to the question about reparations for Poland. In response, the head of the PO scoffed at Deputy Minister Mularczyk’s actions, saying he prefers to “take the money Germany gives”, referring to EU funds and KPO. How would you comment on it?
It is difficult to win elections in Poland if you speak Polish but think in German.
On Monday, “Gazeta Wyborcza” will present a poll that should be “the last alarm bell for the Democrats”. From the comments of Jarosław Kurski, deputy editor-in-chief of “Gazeta Wyborcza”, it can be read that the conclusion of the poll will be that it would be better for the opposition to start from one list. Which variant do you think is the best from a PiS point of view – the opposition from one list, two, three, or maybe it doesn’t matter at all?
I have always been in favor of one opposition list and I will not change my opinion on this. Tusk bounced back and supported at the more than 30 percent level. there is none for KO, currently KO has less support than when Grzegorz Schetyna resigned from the post of PO chairman. As you can see, Donald Tusk’s star shines with some kind of reflected light, because he certainly doesn’t have his own.
Grzegorz Schetyna was – from the point of view of this party – a better leader of PO than Donald Tusk?
If we look only at the results of the polls, Grzegorz Schetyna left the party in a better state than it is now under Donald Tusk’s rule.
If the opposition started with one list, PiS could put an equal sign between the opposition and Donald Tusk. Are you therefore in favor of this formula to start the opposition?
The entire opposition knows that Donald Tusk is a burden to them – except PO, perhaps. However, if some opposition parties have the Stockholm syndrome, that is their choice and their problem, I will not go into that. We have our tasks to accomplish and we must concentrate on them.
