Cancellation of educational trips from Israel to Poland
In mid-June 2022, the Israeli Ministry of Education announced the cancellation of educational trips to Poland for high school students. The ministry justified its decision on the grounds that problems had arisen that prevented students from being properly and safely informed on the road. Foreign Ministry spokesman Łukasz Jasina said a return to existing rules, including tours of Jewish youths with the participation of armed Israeli services, is not possible.
Israeli youth traditionally came to Poland in the summer to visit the former German Nazi camps to learn about the Holocaust and honor the memory of those killed. This trip has long been considered a milestone in Israeli education, and about 40,000 students took part each year before the outbreak of the pandemic. Israeli students.
Referring to the cancellation of student trips from Israel to Poland, Israel’s ambassador to Poland Yacov Livne said in mid-June last year that “work is being done to achieve a common, good, acceptable goal”.
I think we will solve this crisis soon
he stressed.
