At least 50 espionage electronic devices have been installed by a network of agents working on behalf of Russia’s intelligence agency, broken up by the Internal Security Agency, RMF FM reported Thursday. The portal reported that the liquidated group was escorting transports with military aid to Ukraine and would prepare sabotage actions in Poland.
According to RMF FM, agents are signaling more people related to, among other things, the installation of web cameras on communication routes along which transports with weapons for Kiev move.
On the other hand, the search for more cameras and GPS transmitters continues. Now uniformed officers focus on technical facilities, ie they check overpasses and bridges on major routes leading to intersections with Ukraine in terms of installed electronic equipment. Warehouses near railway lines leased after the outbreak of war are also being investigated. It’s about checking whether there are cameras, for example
writes the portal.
He further stated that the services pay special attention to searching for espionage equipment along the eastern part of the A4 highway in Podkarpacie, for example in parking garages along this route, and that the espionage network has taken several months to unravel.
RMF FM reported on Wednesday that Polish services had broken a spy network for Russia. The station indicated that the group had to prepare for, among other things, sabotage activities to monitor railways. Stanisław Żaryn, Deputy Minister of Special Services Coordinator, announced that a statement on the matter will be issued on Thursday.
Breaking up of the espionage network by the ABW
On Thursday, the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration and the Minister-Coordinator of the Secret Services, Mariusz Kamiński, confirmed information that the ABW had broken up an espionage network for Russia.
In recent days, the Internal Security Agency has arrested nine people suspected of collaborating with the Russian special services. At the request of the Russian intelligence service, the suspects carried out intelligence activities against Poland and prepared sabotage
– he said.
The minister pointed out that the detainees were foreigners from across the eastern border.
Six of them have been arrested by the court. The prosecutor’s office charged them with spying for Russia and participating in an organized criminal group. A trial is underway against three detainees – who were detained yesterday
Kaminski emphasized.
He added that the cases of the three people arrested on Wednesday will soon be heard by the court.
As with the previous six persons, we assume that the court will decide on their pre-trial detention
– he said.
As the minister has communicated, the evidence points to a group of suspects monitoring railway lines.
Its duties included recognizing, monitoring and documenting arms shipments for Ukraine. The suspects also prepared sabotage actions to paralyze the supply of equipment, weapons and aid to Ukraine
he stressed.
ABW officers – as Kaminski added – secured cameras, electronic equipment and GPS transmitters, which would be mounted on aid transports for Ukraine.
According to the minister, the information collected by the Internal Security Agency shows that the group was also ordered to carry out propaganda activities to destabilize Polish-Ukrainian relations, incite and arouse hostility towards NATO countries in Poland , and to Polish government policy towards Ukraine.
