The Polish court gave a verdict in the case of the murder of the mayor of Gdansk, Pavel Adamovich. transmits Fox News. According to the channel, the judiciary has sentenced Stefan Wilmont to life imprisonment for attacking the mayor with a knife in 2019.
Judge Oleksandra Kaczmarek said in her decision that Wilmont committed an “unprecedented murder” in Polish history, but did not characterize it as a political crime. She also added that the attack on Adamovich was terrible.
At the same time, Polish MP Piotr Adamowicz, brother of the late mayor, stated that Vilmont’s defense could appeal the court’s decision. He did not comment on the punishment itself, only emphasizing that no one could bring his brother back to life.
Adamovich died from the stab wounds inflicted on him as a result of the assassination attempt. The attack took place on January 13, 2019, during a WOŚP benefit concert. A person with a knife attacked the mayor and received multiple blows, including in the heart area.
