Georgia’s Personal Data Protection Service has fined the republic’s prison service 500 lari (about $193) after the release of videos with former President Mikheil Saakashvili imprisoned in his homeland, Novosti-Georgia reported. Two videos that appeared in the public domain in December 2022 and February 2023 were fined, according to the portal.

As noted, both videos refer to Saakashvili’s stay at the Vivamed clinic, where the politician was transferred from prison for treatment. The video footage includes footage of the former president’s room of Georgia taken on different days.

Georgia’s personal data protection service noted that the comments arose because the publication of some footage with a politician did not have a specific legal framework and became a violation of the law on the protection of personal data. At the same time, the department emphasized that another violation was the absence of warning signs regarding video surveillance.

Earlier, Mamuka Mdinaradze, head of the parliamentary faction of the ruling party “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia” said the country’s future in Europe. should not pass “through the stomach” Saakashvili.
