With the official welcoming ceremony by President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda, the official visit to Poland of the Czech presidential couple, Petr Pavl and Eva Pavlova, began.
Petr Pavel was sworn in as president of the Czech Republic on March 9 this year. The visit to Warsaw is his second foreign visit – the first was in Slovakia early this week.
In the schedule of the visit, a meeting of the presidential couples is planned first, then the leaders will talk to each other in person. The next item will be plenary discussions of the Polish and Czech delegations and a press conference.
Polish-Czech conversations
The head of the Presidential Office of International Policy, Marcin Przydacz, stressed that the topics of discussion between the presidents of Poland and the Czech Republic would include the issue of Russian aggression in Ukraine. He announced that leaders will also discuss the future of relations within the European and Euro-Atlantic structures, including in the context of the Vilnius NATO summit scheduled for July.
An important subject of the talks between the presidents will also be Polish-Czech bilateral relations, especially economic ones.
Poland and the Czech Republic have (…) very extensive economic relations. The Czech Republic is the second economic partner for Poland, Poland is the third partner for the Czech Republic, so the presidents will also talk about how to expand this economic cooperation
said Przydacz.
On Thursday, President Pavel will meet with President of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek and President of the Senate Tomasz Grodzki, and on Friday with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
