Our plan is to become an energy hub, especially a gas hub, of Central Europe, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stressed. As he explained, in this way Poland will be a supplier of energy security, which will also strengthen its political position in this part of Europe.
The Prime Minister attended a meeting of representatives of the governments of Poland and Ukraine and leading energy companies in Warsaw.
Government plans
Our plan is to become an energy hub, a gas hub in particular, for Central Europe
he said during the speech.
Perhaps the Federal Republic of Germany had such a plan based on Russian gas. The plan collapsed like a house of cards
added the Prime Minister.
Morawiecki noted that the Polish government bases its plan on actually constructed interconnectors and gas pipelines, as well as plans to build modern nuclear power in the future.
According to the head of government, this plan can also lead to Poland becoming a supplier of energy security for the whole of Central Europe, which in turn will strengthen its political position in this part of Europe, raise its status and possibilities for action.
Strategic investments
Therefore – as Morawiecki said – the investment of the floating LNG terminal and the expansion of the Naftoport in Gdańsk has already started.
In the future, this infrastructure will be able to be used by recipients from Poland, but also by our partners from Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and – as I was informed this morning by one of the presidents present – also from Hungary.
Morawiecki emphasized.
That is why we are already expanding the national oil and gas transport network, but we are also planning together with the Czech Republic (…) the expansion and construction of the Stork II gas connection and further cross-border energy bridges with our neighboring countries
said the prime minister.
Regional cooperation
Speaking at the conference “E23: PL for UA – Polish-Ukrainian Partnership in building energy security of the future”, the head of government pointed out that “by liberating Poland from Russia’s energy blackmail”, we are currently putting the countries of the region in enable you to enter the path of energy independence.
We can make the whole region independent of the “Russian mir”. Poland is already actively building a new energy order in Europe
he noticed.
Mateusz Morawiecki added that energy cooperation with Ukraine and neighboring countries “is also part of Poland’s raison d’être, it will be possible to return to joint exploration projects.”
We have already been invited to joint mining and exploration projects in Ukraine. Of course there must be peace there, but such projects are possible. The talks cover various topics, including gas exploration in Western Ukraine
said the Prime Minister.
Today we are also invited to participate in projects, in very different projects
– added.
Morawiecki pointed this out for the modernization of the Rzeszów-Chmielnicka nuclear power link.
This combination can serve to universally strengthen the energy security of both Poland and Ukraine
he noticed.
The head of government said that the talks with the Ukrainians also concern the connection of the nuclear power plant in Rivne with Chełm. Mateusz Morawiecki noted that if there is a surplus of energy at the Rivne power plant, Poland can use green energy faster and thus more easily meet the strict requirements of the EU climate policy.
