A meeting of European Affairs Ministers of the Weimar Triangle will be held in Kórnik near Poznań in May with the participation of Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for EU and NATO Integration, Olha Stefaniszyn; the summit will be devoted to the issue of EU enlargement – announced EU Affairs Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk.
On Monday, EU Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, the head of the President’s Office of International Policy Marcin Przydacz and Minister-Member of the Council of Ministers Michał Dworczyk visited Kiev, where they met, among other places. with the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba and the Deputy Prime Minister for Integration with the EU and NATO Olha Stefaniszyna.
During Wednesday’s press conference, Szynkowski vel Sęk announced that the Polish delegation proposed the creation of a bilateral initiative for the integration of Ukraine into the EU; it would function on two levels: working and political.
As the EU minister said, on the one hand Polish ministries will share the experience of our integration with the EU with Ukraine, and on the other hand Poland will provide political support to Ukraine.
We aim to ensure that the oral opinion of the European Commission, which will most likely be presented around the May-June transition, takes into account Ukraine’s progress in meeting European expectations, and that the written autumn opinion of the European Commission Commission opens the way to opening accession negotiations
– said Szynkowski aka Sęk.
Children kidnapped from Ukraine
Among the topics discussed in Kiev, the minister also mentioned consultations on the initiative regarding children abducted from Ukraine.
Szynkowski vel Sek said that during his visit to the capital of Ukraine, he sent Deputy Prime Minister Stefaniszyn an invitation to the meeting of European Affairs Ministers of the Weimar Triangle, which will take place on May 12 in Kórnik near Poznań.
The meeting will be devoted to the enlargement of the EU, with particular emphasis on the enlargement of the EU to Ukraine, but we will not limit ourselves to this. We also want to talk more broadly about the prospects of Moldova and the countries of the Western Balkans
