I have no doubt that the attack on forests is primarily economic. The whole conservation story is just a smoke screen. We cannot look at this passively – said the general director of the state forests, Józef Kubica, in an interview published in “Gazeta Polska” on Wednesday.
In the interview, Kubica referred, among other things, to the journalist’s comment that “over the last two decades we have made several attempts to change the forest management system and turn the tables, and now international institutions are joining in.”

Indeed, it is impossible not to notice that for the past 30 years internal attacks on the State Forests have proved ineffective. Every time someone made intrigues and tried to get to the Polish forests, the resistance of society was so great that in the end it failed. I think that is why the company, which is still interested in doing business with the collapse of the State Forests, has gone to its colleagues abroad

The role of the judgment of the CJEU
They received that support in a visible way. The most serious issue is the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union. The element of suing the forest management plans is particularly dangerous. This mechanism can actually lead to forest management being blocked
– he said.
He pointed out that “all this is happening just after the ENVI committee in the European Parliament – with the support of PO and PSL politicians – has voted to transfer powers from member states to the level of the whole community.”
This despite the fact that the Treaty of Lisbon explicitly states that forest management is the exclusive competence of the Member States. It turns out that Brussels officials want to manage the forests in Poland from the backseat. The consequences will be deplorable, as was the case in the Białowieża Forest
he assessed.
When asked if he saw interest groups interested in destabilizing the state forests, Kubica said he had no doubt the attack was primarily economic.
The whole conservation story is just a smokescreen. We cannot look at it passively
he noticed.
