The first women of Poland and Ukraine Agata Kornhauser-Duda and Olena Zełenska spoke on Tuesday about the implementation of joint projects for the benefit of the people of Ukraine, Polish-Ukrainian humanitarian cooperation and planned activities in these areas, the president’s chancellery reported.
The online meeting was also attended by the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, Wasyl Zwarycz, and the head of the National Security Bureau, Jacek Siewiera.
The communiqué of the President’s Chancellery indicated that Agata Kornhauser-Duda and Olena Zełenska have started a project to exchange experiences between Polish and Ukrainian doctors. As part of the cooperation, a total of eighty-nine Ukrainian doctors and representatives of medical personnel in Poland will be trained in medical evacuation by air and comprehensive medical care for burn patients.
According to the KPRP, Kornhauser-Duda discussed the course of the series of training started last year and carried out by the Polish Medical Air Rescue, the Eastern Burn Treatment and Reconstructive Surgery Center in Łęczna and the Medical Simulation Center of the Medical University of Lublin.
The training is coming to an end. I hope that the experience gained will help specialists from Ukraine to take even better care of the life and health of patients
– said the first lady, quoted in the communiqué.
As indicated, the wife of the president has had the opportunity to meet with the students several times to discuss the scope of the needs of the medical staff in Ukraine, both in terms of improving competencies and equipping the facilities with medical equipment necessary to operate in the occupied territories.
Olena Zelenska – as quoted by the KPRP – thanked for the collaboration and expressed her joy that it is having a real effect.

Referring to Ukraine’s aspirations for standardization in the field of medical services, the first lady of Ukraine said that “Polish-Ukrainian cooperation of medical groups provides the opportunity to develop joint working protocols, which is very important on Ukraine’s path to the EU.”
The KPRP said the first ladies were discussing the details of organizing further courses, this time dedicated to specialists in rehabilitation, stress management and psychotraumatology. They have also declared their willingness to cooperate in the exchange of experiences between voluntary fire brigades.
As Minister Siewiera noted, this is one of the most active environments in Poland, whose involvement is conducive to saving lives, as well as civic activation and community maintenance in smaller towns. The First Lady of Ukraine stated that the process of forming similar structures that have been operating in our country for more than a hundred years has begun in Ukraine, which is why the Polish experience in this field is particularly valuable

During the conversation, the wives of the presidents discussed the situation of Ukrainian orphans residing in Poland.
Agata Kornhauser-Duda drew attention to the systemic differences in the two countries and asked her interlocutor for advocacy on aligning care standards for orphans with Polish and EU standards, while seeking the support of the European Commission and UNICEF Crisis Management Office insured in Poland in this area

Olena Zelenska announced that Ukraine has managed to recover hundreds of children abducted deep in Russia, but that the situation is still “critical and unacceptable”.
The ladies agreed that solving the problem required action from the international community. The first lady of Ukraine thanked for the initiative to track down the children and punish those responsible. The project will be implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen with the support of UN agencies
