It is sometimes said that overzealousness is worse than fascism. In recent days, in the Civic Platform, they know very well. At a time when Donald Tusk embarked on his campaign tour of Poland, his aides must devote most of their energies to curbing their sidekicks’ aspirations.
The PO leadership would probably prefer that the TVN production defaming John Paul II never get made. It only took them a few days to understand how much their television had hurt them. It should have been the final deal with the despised god homeland of Poland by attacking our greatest authority, and it ended up being shot in your own foot. They soon understood that Poles would defend the good name of the Holy Father, in whose warmth the PO leaders liked to warm themselves. They even took church weddings to win elections.
Today they are left with rhetorical acrobatics, which is supposed to convince that in fact no one knows that PiS is trying to play the card of the Polish pope before the elections. Wasted effort.
The bad news for Tusk’s party is that the attacks on John Paul II will not stop. Many circles are ready to even lose the election, but do not let go of this attack. This is how you end up breeding militias on hatred, ready to attack any sanctity.
As in the lens, it can be seen in the fresh stream of consciousness of Magdalena Środa in the Michnika newspaper:
(…) The PiS-controlled papal propaganda horse can successfully cross the finish line of the elections. Because people love mythical heroes and hate mythbusters.
He knows that attacks on John Paul II could push Jarosław Kaczyński’s party to a third term. But the above words conclude the column in which he joins these attacks. Because for this revolutionary, fighting with the church is more important than the success of the self-proclaimed “democratic opposition”. Therefore, with the ugliness of his pen, he speculates on the “Pope’s obsession with sexuality”, etc.
Wednesday is just one example. There are more such cases – smaller ones, but also very shocking ones.
For me, Janina Ochojska has been Putin’s Janina for a while now. Probably also for the top of the PO. But they let her play, spit on Polish services, sow shameful accusations, slander Poland in the international forum. That is, do the same as other PO MPs, only more. But lately too much.
Rafał Trzaskowski herself had to distance herself a bit from her when she accused border guards of having built some kind of mass graves, where they allegedly threw hundreds of bodies of illegal migrants.
This case is accompanied by a lot of emotions and I understand that Janina Ochojska is also accompanied by emotions as a person who has always been involved in helping the weak, but this kind of information should definitely not be made public if it is not 100% confirmed, because it is too serious (…) I would advise restraint (…) If such harsh allegations are made, they must be confirmed. If not, you are doing the people you speak of a disservice. Second, there will always be such a response from PiS and there will be an even deeper rift between us, which we must avoid.
And one more example. Again from Czerska. Dorota Wysocka-Schnepf talks to Slawomir Nitras. It starts with a thick pipe:
Sir, is PiS able to win the next election fairly after eight years of rule?
The answer apparently did not satisfy her, because at the next question the editor vigilantly presses the gas to the metal:
Only if PiS cannot win on an equal and fair basis – and really wants to win – should it resort to electoral fraud. Do you think the electoral fraud process has already started?
You won’t believe it, but even Nitras couldn’t stand it:
I would be careful with such terms. Because, apart from some minor irregularities, the electoral process in Poland has not been unfair so far (…) I think there is nothing to be afraid of either.
So how come in the end – PiS will rig the election or not? After all, the young, educated, from big cities can get lost in this mess!
At this rate, if Civic Platform’s media backers are fueling the campaign fire, PO politicians may not have enough time to explain to voters why they don’t have a programme. They will have to temper their media soldiers every step of the way. Not even a man as energetic as MP Nitras will be able to handle the work on the next front.
The platform probably already understands that it can hit hardest with the spiral of lies and hatred it has been spiraling for years. You wanted it yourself, Donald Dyndalo.
