Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine’s possible future membership in the European Union and NATO should not be taken as charity or ransom. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“Ukraine’s EU and NATO membership should not be taken as charity or ransom. It is a pragmatic concern for the European community itself.
He noted that Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and NATO is in line with the strategic interests of the West. At the same time, according to him, greater “uncertainty” by Western politicians about Ukraine’s involvement could lead to consequences that are not in Europe’s interest.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishina statedHe said Ukrainian authorities hope to meet most of the European Commission’s criteria for starting EU accession negotiations by May. As the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine pointed out, he plans to invite European politicians to the meeting of the EU General Affairs Council in Kiev. He added that by this point, the country must complete the implementation of the main criteria of the EC.
