In the letter they demand that “energy be put into the hands of citizens”. Some protesters clung to doors and chained to radiators. 10 people attended the event.
One of the activists stated that she wanted to “hold PiS accountable for climate policy”.
I stand here in solidarity with all those affected by energy poverty, (…) With all those whose security and future are at risk because our economic policies are still based on fossil fuels
argued the activist.
The police were called to the scene.
Activists want to put energy “in the hands of the people”.
In the letter, they argued that if “energy does not reach people’s hands”, “the interests of energy companies will still conflict with the needs of citizens next winter”, and “the development of local and cheap energy production in Poland will be hindered. Communities striving for energy independence become eg unfavorable accounting system, lack of state support and neglected networks.’
Activists also announced a protest in front of the Prime Minister’s Office. The demonstration is scheduled for March 18 under the motto “Energy in the hands of people”.
