Since 2015, there are more doctors practicing the profession. We have mastered the departure of specialists abroad, and last year more than 4.3 thousand people came to us. doctors from Ukraine and Belarus, said Health Minister Adam Niedzielski in Piła, Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, on Sunday.
As part of program meetings of Law and Justice representatives organized under the slogan “The future is Poland”, Health Minister Adam Niedzielski visited Piła on Sunday. In his speech, he admitted that the healthcare system was asking for change and investment.
We first had to put out the fires that the opposition would set in healthcare
he said, citing underinvestment and a shortage of medical staff.
Good news from the Minister of Health!
Speaking of staff shortages and doctors and nurses going abroad or working in private companies, Niedzielski said that “it’s not perfect in this area, but we’ve managed to reverse the trends.”
Since 2015, there are more doctors practicing the profession. We used to have fewer and fewer of them
he stressed.
He ruled that the problem has been reduced thanks to the increase in the minimum wage in health care.
We have provided monetization opportunities in the public system that is already competitive with the private. We have mastered the departure of specialists abroad and, moreover, we have become such an attractive country that over 4.3 thousand doctors from Ukraine and Belarus came to us last year. They are also a real help, they also help us to get to a specialist faster
said the minister.
He stressed the need to increase the scale of medical education.
We have 40,000 students in medical and medical schools there, and eight years ago there were about 30,000.
he stressed.
New loyalty solutions
The minister was asked by one of the people who came to the meeting if there is any way for doctors going to work abroad to repay at least part of the amounts spent from the state budget for their training.
We have prepared new solutions based on loyalty. This is primarily a student loan issue. We have prepared a solution that if someone works in the Polish system, they will take a loan for education, and there are almost 2,000 of these loans since September last year, so only if they have worked in the Polish public system for 10 years is it possible to repay this loan
he pointed it out.
He added that a scholarship scheme for specialist education is also under preparation.
I’m not saying it’s perfect, but really the number of renovations, the number of new investments, the number of equipment purchased is on an unprecedented scale. Example – ventilators. Before the pandemic, the average age of a ventilator in Poland was 10 years old. We had such equipment. All activities related to inputs and investments caused this situation to change dramatically
he argued.
“We have stopped the outflow of doctors”
The health minister pointed out that what sets his formation apart from the opposition is that it works.
We differ in that we do, that we not only talk, but also do. This is the main difference
– he said. In this regard, he mentioned about implementing the announcements of the 500plus program and increasing healthcare spending or increasing the salaries of doctors and nurses.
We stopped the outflow of medics
he noticed.
We are responsible for the word. We want to change reality (…) from your (collected – PAP) perspective
Niedzielski argued. In this context, he spoke about providing access to health care to all residents of the country, including those from smaller cities, or access to larger centers.
He mentioned the war in Ukraine and the COVID-19 pandemic and stressed that despite the instability of the economic and international situation, the government is fulfilling its obligations “in every field”.
There is no such efficiency as the Law and Justice government
argued the minister.
