The Russian Foreign Ministry drew attention to repeated fake payments at Russian consulates in Germany. This is specified telegraph channel Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The Ministry pointed out that we are talking about provocative publications in a number of Internet resources on the work of Russian consular offices (RKZU) in Germany, and the refusal to accept rubles as payment from citizens of the Russian Federation. The services provided only require payment in euros.
“Payment for the performance of consular activities in Russian consular institutions abroad is regulated in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation and is made in the local currency of the host country.”
They explained that the rates of consular fees are determined by a decree of the Government of the Russian Federation in US dollars, which is converted into the local currency at the current rate. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that there is no possibility of accepting payments in rubles, given that consulates do not have ruble accounts in their countries of residence.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the consular offices of the Russian Federation in Germany “would gladly accept the MIR card for payment, but only after the imposition of sanctions the Russian consulates were refused by the German side even in the Visa service. Not to mention Mastercard payment systems, MIR cards.” The ministry noted that only so-called EC cards are allowed to be used.
“The EU card is an electronic cash card, not an EU card. This is a bank card issued by German banks linked to another main card. You can pay with an EU card in almost all stores across Europe.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that almost all citizens living in Germany have such cards.
In rare cases, the ministry said, if there is no such card or if the applicant came from a neighboring state, RKZU is allowed to pay for the service provided by bank transfer or cash, depending on the conditions of each consulate. .
In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the Russians not to succumb to information provocations and not to fill their anonymous Telegram channels.
“If these sources were considering the Russians, they would be subject to media obstruction from Western regimes, which hinder the work of consular offices where people come to solve pressing problems,” the ministry said.
