EU announces plans to coordinate European companies’ access to Inflation Reduction Act with US

The European Union hopes to reach an agreement with the US on the possibility of companies in Europe accessing assistance under the Inflation Reduction Act. This was expressed by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, after a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden in Washington.

He noted that it is crucial that resources produced in Europe have the same access to key industrial chains in the United States as if they were made in the United States.

The US Inflation Reduction Act provides for government support to US companies involved in the development and implementation of alternative energy sources. 369 billion dollars is included in the project.

But at the end of last year, von der Leyen suggested Leaders of 27 EU countries will agree on measures in response to the US Inflation Reduction Act amid concerns that the law discriminates against European companies.
