Former WWF Environmental Policy Director Yevgeny Shvarts said he was shocked by the organization’s inclusion on the foreign agents register. He commented on the decision of the Ministry of Justice of Russia on his Telegram channel. “Pay Attention to the News”.
According to him, this decision is “obviously stupid, because the organization conveyed to the world community the situation and problems of people in Russia dealing with environmental problems in the country.
Explaining that he worked as the environmental policy director at the foundation for 21 years, Gürkan pointed out that many important initiatives, including the protection of tigers, have worked in the Russian Federation thanks to the WWF.
“If that’s true, I’m shocked by what happened and of course I don’t understand it,” Schwartz said.
March 10 Russian Ministry of Justice accepted WWF foreign agent. The ministry announced its decision after the World Wide Fund for Nature received funding from foreign sources and hindered industrial development in the country under the guise of protecting nature, the environment and the biodiversity of species. The ministry also said that the fund sheds a negative light on the decisions and policies taken by government agencies.
