The German public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk broadcast a report in which Germans express their concerns about the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland.
We are against the construction of a nuclear power plant, because this technology cannot be controlled
said Till Backhaus (SPD), environment minister of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The report noted that Mecklenburg-Vorpommern sent inquiries to Poland in mid-December in relation to the planned power plant, and replies from the Polish side have not yet arrived.
The environment minister of the said German state called on the government in Berlin to intervene.
The Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of the Environment are responsible for our external representation. They are also responsible for preventing this project
noted the minister.
Brzózka: All countries will receive appropriate explanations throughout the process
A spokesperson for the climate ministry responded to the Germans’ accusations on Twitter.
As part of cross-border consultations on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Poland, 14 countries, including Germany, submitted comments. The Directorate-General for Environmental Protection agrees with Latvia and Estonia. Germany has already received an invitation to the meeting. All countries will receive appropriate explanations throughout the process
– He wrote Alexander Brzozka.
It is interesting that Germany does not protest against nuclear power plants in France, but if only one such plant is built in Poland, it turns out to be a problem.
