I appeal to all Poles in the country and in the world, to the entire JPII generation, to believers and non-believers, to take all measures to defend our excellent compatriot – she said during the debate on the motion for a resolution on defending the good name of St. John Paul II PiS MP Urszula Rusecka.
The second reading of the motion for a resolution on the defense of the reputation of St. John Paul II.
Recently we have had an unprecedented aggressive attack by the media against Pope John Paul II, our compatriot, a saint, a great pope. An attack on the Pope as an important figure for our nation, for the Polish Church and the Church in the world. An attack on man, but also or especially on his teachings, especially as pope of the family. An attack on his enormous oeuvre, a powerful legacy contained in words, letters, documents and encyclicals
said Rusecka.
“St. John Paul II needs no defense, he defends himself
She added that in the resolution in question, PiS “expresses its strong opposition to unjust and harmful actions aimed at deliberately and plannedly attacking John Paul II, destroying his authority, creating another, new, false image of the Pope. Make sure he is not respected and his teachings are baseless. Is that it? That’s what you’re looking for,” she rhetorically asked opposition MPs.
To negate the importance of this historic pontificate? Abolishing his sanctity? Where does this all lead
said Rusiecki.
Blessed Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński warned against this. “If they come to destroy this nation, they will start with the church, for the church is the strength of this nation”
She remembered the words of the primate of the millennium.
The MP stressed that “Saint John Paul II does not need a defense, he defends himself.”
It is our duty to remember the truth of his great teaching
she pointed out.
As she said: “Poland owes John Paul II so much – freedom, his words comforted us in times of struggle, they were a valuable signpost.”
He told us: “freedom is a gift, a gift that is given, but given at the same time”. In this room he said in 1999: “Challenges to a democratic state require a solid cooperation of all people of goodwill – regardless of the political choice or the worldview of all who want to create the common good of the fatherland together. History teaches us that a democracy without values easily turns into open or camouflaged totalitarianism
she remembered.
She appealed to “all Poles in the country and in the world, the entire JPII generation, believers and non-believers who love and respect the great legacy and merits of the great Pope, to take all measures to protect our excellent compatriot defend, don’t be afraid.”
