On Tuesday evening, the Sejm rejected a civic draft amendment to the law on family planning, protection of the human fetus and conditions for the permissibility of termination of pregnancy and other laws. It provided for sanctions for information on the possibility of termination of pregnancy in Poland and abroad.
300 Members were in favor of rejecting the draft at first reading, 99 were against and 27 abstained.
The motion to reject the project was filed by Civic Coalition, Left, Coalition Poland and Polska2050.

What was the project?
At the end of last December, the Life and Family Foundation of Kai Godek, an anti-abortion activist, along with about 150,000 signatures, filed a civil bill amending the January 7, 1993 law on family planning, protection of the human fetus and conditions of admissibility of termination of pregnancy, and other laws.
The bill included fines for: information about the possibility of termination of pregnancy in Poland and abroad.
The bill banned the public promotion of activities related to the possibility of termination of pregnancy at home and abroad.
