Foreign Minister Popescu: Moldova asked EU to send a civil security mission

Moldovan Foreign and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu told a briefing at the ministry that the country is in talks with the EU about sending a civil security mission there to counter hybrid threats. It has been reported DEA News.

“We are discussing with the European Union the launch of a mission under the European Security and Defense Policy. A civilian mission will be sent to Chisinau to help our institutions strengthen their ability to counter the hybrid threats we are exposed to as a society,” the minister said.

Popescu also pointed to the importance of the aid Moldova received through the European Peace Fund.

Earlier, former President of Moldova, head of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin, the Moldovan authorities imitate European integration process for obtaining grants and loans.

According to him, the reform of the justice system and other plans in Moldova, which Chisinau undertook to carry out after the country received the candidate status of the European Union, completely failed.
