This is a classic Russian provocation, absolutely deliberate, tweeted Mykhailo Podolak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on Thursday, commenting on the reports spread by the Russian media about the alleged attack by a Ukrainian sabotage group in the Bryansk region.
The story about the Ukrainian sabotage group in Russia is a classic provocation. Absolutely purposeful. Russia wants to scare its (people) in order to somehow justify the attack on another country and the growing poverty after a year of war
said Podolak.
At the same time, he warned Russian authorities about the “partisan movement” that is “getting firmer”.
Russian lies
Reports appeared in the Russian media on Thursday morning about the alleged infiltration of a Ukrainian sabotage group into the territory of the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine.
Reports from various sources, including official ones, quickly changed. A school bus was reported to have been fired on (later denied by authorities, who said the teaching was being conducted remotely), and hostages were taken. Independent media pointed out that no visual evidence of the alleged attack was presented.
Provocation warning
The portal of RBK Ukraine, citing the Ukrainian operational command North, called for caution and warned of possible provocations from the Russian side.
The media in Russia, for their part, have indicated that an “extraordinary meeting of the Security Council” convened by Vladimir Putin has been planned in connection with the events in the Bryansk region. In turn, his spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, stated that “the meeting of the Security Council is not scheduled today”.
A Kremlin spokesman called the alleged attack in the Bryansk region a “terrorist attack.” According to the governor of the oblast there are deaths.
