There are still those who call these heroes murderers of children and women. We strongly disagree and we protest against such a story, said Wojciech Skurkiewicz, deputy chief of the Ministry of National Defense during the celebration of the National Day of Remembrance of the Cursed Soldiers in Radom.
“We protest against such a story.”
The Deputy Minister of National Defense pointed out that March 1 is a symbolic day when we pay respect and honor to the Cursed Soldiers.
But should we call these heroes Cursed Soldiers, heroes of the Republic of Poland, heroes who did not come to terms with the situation after 1945, when Poland was still chained by Moscow?
Skurkiewicz asked. He stressed that “the indomitable soldiers should be erased from the pages of history, the Polish nation should forget about them and young people should be taught about them in schools.”
“Yet the demons are somewhere
The deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense thanked the PiS parliamentarians for attending the ceremony: Anna Kwiecień, Marek Suski and Dariusz Bąk, who, he noted, “bear witness in parliament to the heroism of these soldiers.”
But today we must not forget that these demons are still out there somewhere, including in these nooks and crannies of the cavernous parliamentary corridors. There are still those who call these heroes murderers of children and women. We strongly disagree and protest against such rhetoric and narrativity
Skurkiewicz said.
According to the deputy minister, those who say that are repeating what “the communists said when they condemned the Cursed Soldiers out of honor and faith.” Skurkiewicz quoted a social media post from MP Dariusz Bąk, who indicated that the Cursed Soldiers began and ended the day with prayer.
For them, the slogans: God, Honor and Fatherland, which today fly on the banners of the Polish Armed Forces, were something special.
noted Skurkiewicz.
Let us remember the steadfast heroes, the heroes of our freedom. Let’s remember those who may not have been able to see a free, democratic, beloved homeland. Let’s remember them every day, not only on the occasion of today’s holiday, not only on the occasion of the patriotic world
– said the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense.
