The voting of the deputies of the Finnish parliament on the law on the republic’s accession to NATO has been postponed to 1 March. This was stated in Parliament’s message on Twitter.
At 14:00 local time, it was noted that “the parliament will vote on Finland’s entry into NATO on Wednesday, March 1”. Parliamentarians initially intended to consider the proposal to join the North Atlantic Alliance on Tuesday, February 28, but that option was rejected during discussion.
Parliament will need a simple majority to pass the bill.
Previously reportedThree members of the Finnish Parliament, Markus Mustajärvi, Johannes Jurttiaho and Ano Turtiainen, have proposed rejecting this agreement during the hearings regarding the approval of Finland and Sweden’s application to join the North Atlantic Alliance, which began Tuesday, February 28.
