Former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Ukraine is unlikely to become a full member of NATO, which would be met by the alliance’s collective defense. He talked about it in the broadcast of the TV channel GIS.
“It will be a difficult climb… I think really… Ukraine is a de facto very strong NATO ally and vice versa. I expect this to continue as I think some sort of security arrangement with Ukraine will be needed in the future. It would probably be good to start working on it now,” Rice explained.
He added that in the future the alliance should focus on ensuring that there are no unprotected areas in the center of Europe.
Former representatives of the German government spokeThat Germany, France and Britain have no plans to sign a defense agreement with Ukraine. Discussion of security guarantees for Ukraine began shortly after the launch of the special operation.
