“The fundamental principle of international law is the right to self-determination. If someone does not respect this principle, there is no place for him in the family of civilized nations,” said Minister Paweł Jabłoński in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal.
The deputy foreign minister referred to China’s 12-point peace plan for Ukraine,
There are several proposals to end the war. From Poland’s point of view, any situation that would lead to Russia gaining any territorial gains or other fruits of its aggression would be a disastrous one. This would encourage further wars and aggressive policies as such actions would prove profitable. And not only for Russia. It would be a signal to other countries or even to terrorist organizations. If we want to achieve peace, we say it must come as soon as possible, but it must also be permanent. Therefore, each time an attempt is made to create a situation where an aggression bonus is awarded, the chance of lasting peace decreases. Russia would attack again. If the sanctions were lifted, it would rebuild its army and be able to attack with much better and more modern weapons
– says the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an interview with wPolityce.pl.
“Russia must be isolated”
When asked about the Wall Street Journal reports on the alleged behavior of Chancellor Scholz and President Macron, which allegedly urged the Ukrainian president to consider peace talks with Russia, Jabłoński replied:
For many weeks there has been no lack of various signals that do not work. The main thing is that Ukraine itself decides, it determines what its interests are, no one can impose anything on Ukraine. And that’s what this war is about. Ukraine was attacked because Russia wanted to impose political subordination on it so that Ukraine could not join NATO and the European Union and take its territory. The fundamental principle of international law is the right to self-determination. If someone does not respect this principle, there is no place for him in the family of civilized nations, in the international community. That is why Russia and the countries that support it must be isolated
– he argues in an interview with the portal wPolityce.pl.
