“If Winnicki wants to save brewing, let him start a brewery,” says Marek Jakubiak in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal.
Confederation MPs Robert Winnicki and Grzegorz Braun have launched an action to save the liquidated brewery in Leżajsk. Politicians’ actions were criticized on Twitter by Marek Jakubiak, who shared Winnicki’s entry asking “where were they when Browary Warszawskie was liquidated?”.
We asked Marek Jakubiak, the founder and chairman of the board of directors of Browary Regionalne Jakubiak, for his opinion on the situation regarding the brewery in Leżajsk.
It is difficult for me to comment because I am one of the players in the Polish beer scene. However, it is worth noting that dozens of Polish breweries have closed before our eyes, for the same reason that Leżajsk is closing. Today, crocodile tears are being shed over a brewery falling victim to optimization, ie productivity problems
– says Jakubiak in an interview with wPolityce.pl.
The brand will continue to be produced by the owner. The same happened in the case of Browary Warszawskie. Few people know that they have been liquidated. Productions have been taken over, beer is being sold in Warsaw and Varsovians think they still drink Browary Warszawskie’s drink. And this kind of situation is unfortunately accepted by the law. Cares optimize the organoleptic characteristics of beer, all labels, bottles, cases and wherever it is produced
– convinces the entrepreneur.
When asked about the actions of the Confederate MPs, Jakubiak replies:
I am annoyed by the behavior of the Confederacy who smelled blood. Where were they when it was necessary to save Browary Warszawskie, which should be a great thing for nationalists? The insurgents ate bread from the malt of Browary Warszawskie for two months. The owner was shot for helping to fight against Warsaw. That’s what Confederate politicians should have done, not fly around trying to save something that couldn’t be saved. The market in Poland is extremely saturated with beers. From 2014 to today, several hundred new small breweries have been established. If Winnicki wants to save brewing, let him start a brewery.
Marek Jakubiak also draws attention to the problem of the beer market crisis in Poland.
For globalists, the best situation would be one with one brewery and several brands for the whole of Poland. Today, Poland has diversified in this regard and it is necessary to take care of it, to save small breweries, where several dozen people work in a particular city. Saving a brewery that has a capacity of several hundred thousand hectoliters and sells several dozen is a daunting task. We are in a very serious crisis, demand has fallen. Some big breweries went back to 2012 with sales. I don’t remember such a situation, and I’ve been in the brewing industry since the mid-90s. A better idea from people like Braun and Winnicki would be to move Poland over to buy Polish products from small breweries, and not from Western companies. They would do better than they do now, which makes vultures popular
– he says in an interview with the portal wPolityce.pl.
