Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune said his country plans to reopen its embassy in Ukraine. This was reported by the local news portal Ennahar Online.

“Our embassy in Kiev will reopen this week,” the head of state said.

According to him, the closure of the Algerian embassy in Ukraine in March last year was “for security reasons”. At the same time, the Algerian leader did not answer the question about the possibility of the republic to mediate between Russia and Ukraine.

“Algerian diplomacy has always been secret. When a specific announcement needs to be made, we will do it,” Tebbun summarized.

At the end of January, Russian President Vladimir Putin spent Telephone conversation with Algerian leader Tebbun. According to a report from the residence of the Russian president, both sides “welcomed” the gradual development of Russia-Algeria cooperation.
