Within a year of Russia’s attack, Poland transferred more than €2.2 billion worth of weapons to Ukraine. Donated equipment included: Crab howitzers, Cave carbines, anti-aircraft missiles and ammunition. Among the Polish equipment that went to the front are also tanks – T-72, PT-91 and Leopards, as announced in Kiev by Prime Minister Morawiecki.
What tanks did Poland give to Ukraine?
Since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24 last year, Poland has been supporting Ukraine with military equipment, supplies and ammunition. As Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced on February 17, Poland has transferred a total of about 250 tanks to Ukraine – mainly post-Soviet, but modernized T-72.
At a press conference in Kiev on the first anniversary of Russian aggression, Prime Minister Morawiecki announced that Poland would supply Ukraine with 60 tanks. PT-91 difficult – is a Polish modernization of the T-72 tank. It was developed in the 90s. The machines in this version have a more powerful engine, an improved fire control system and reactive armor.
The first 4 tanks were also delivered to Ukraine Leopard 2 A4.
Training of Ukrainian pilots
At a joint conference with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the head of the Polish government said Poland was ready to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 aircraft.
We are ready to conduct such training on F-16 fighters in Poland
replied the prime minister.
I emphasize that this should always be agreed in a wider coalition, but Poland is ready to provide such training
he noticed.
He stressed that “it is very important that Ukrainian skies are finally safe”.
