Are there limits to the ridiculousness of leading opposition politicians? Donald Tusk or Rafał Trzaskowski’s conversations with US President Joe Biden, incited by favorable journalists and the politicians themselves (for example, Radosław Sikorski), lasted only a few tens of seconds. Witnesses to these conversations, who are happy to share their observations about TT, have no doubt about it. Rafał Trzaskowski’s account of that meeting with the US president takes longer than the meeting should have lasted. If no such opposition existed, PiS would have to invent it.
But what is left for the opposition? There is no doubt that this historic visit and speech, waving Polish, American and Ukrainian flags, will be the main theme of the campaign. Probably unlike Radosław Sikorski’s conversation with Lavrov on the balcony or Donald Tusk’s walk with President Putin on Sopot pier. Security is one of the most important issues for Poland and could be the driving force behind the campaign. Who knows, the United Right may even win a third term.
What the Polish opposition politicians try to downplay is clearly seen by the world’s media, which have no doubt that the US President chose Warsaw as the place of his visit. There are also comments about Poland’s growing importance in the international arena.
Biden’s visit to Poland has a special dimension
– notes the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. The newspaper notes that never before has an American president visited Warsaw twice a year.
Poland is an important US ally in supporting Ukraine in the military, economic and humanitarian fields
we are reading.
The French daily Le Figaro reports that one of the targets is from Warsaw
creating a dynamic region in Eastern Europe capable of imposing a less naive approach on Moscow than Berlin and Paris.
The NOS portal reports this today
one of the most important emerging powers in Europe.
The visit to NATO’s eastern flank shows that the US president is noticing the changed balance of power in the EU. On the way to Poland it just flew over Paris and Berlin. (…) Today, Poland is one of the most important allies of the US
– reported the portal of the daily newspaper Welt in the context of Joe Biden’s visit to Warsaw.
Radosław Sikorski, who even in 2018 in an interview for the Hungarian portal Valasz Online did not shy away from his words revealed by the media in 2014:
I was right that PiS sucks Americans. They are happy, although they ruined relations with Germany and Russia
Today we can see who was right and how much a strong alliance with the US means for Poland and NATO’s eastern flank. However, I have no doubt that PO politicians will do everything before the campaign to diminish the importance of this alliance, Poland’s foreign policy, support for Ukraine and the changing balance of power in the EU. Because they don’t care what the state’s reason is. They just want PiS removed from power. for what? Even they can’t say it themselves.
