Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, questioned the UN’s ability to mediate in the situation in Ukraine. According to this TASS, the statement was made by Nebenzei at the Security Council meeting dedicated to the anniversary of the conclusion of the Minsk agreements. The meeting was initiated by Russia.

Nebenzia accused the UN Secretariat of “repeating the West’s accusations against Russia”, guided by the non-consensual resolutions of the UN General Assembly.

“Today, many say that the UN must act as an intermediary between Russia and Ukraine. And from what I’ve said, can we count on such mediation? Now where is the guarantee that the secretariat will behave differently?” The permanent representative of Russia addressed the international community.

Former Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova suggested To legally record the UN Security Council deception by which French President François Hollande, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel deliberately lied by declaring their loyalty to the Minsk agreements.
