The regime in Minsk is using “ordinary citizens” to express its displeasure with the Polish authorities’ decision to close the border crossing in Bobrowniki and Warsaw’s allegedly confrontational policies, the government’s plenipotentiary for the security of the Republic’s information space stressed on Tuesday of Poland, Stanislaw Żaryn.
Stanisław Żaryn noted that the Belarusian services organized a “grassroots initiative” in front of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Grodno in the form of a picket, the participants of which armed with Belarusian flags and anti-Polish slogans raised their expressed opposition to Poland’s “unfriendly” policy and the closing of border crossings.
Alleged representatives of the entire nation of Belarus asked the Poles to end sabotage activities – a provocation detrimental to the security of the region and to make Warsaw independent of US hegemony
This is what the government plenipotentiary for the security of the information space writes on Twitter on Tuesday.
He added that the “activists” from Grodno argued over Minsk’s willingness to dialogue and Belarus’ respect for freedom and open borders.
The actions of the government of the Republic of Poland, according to picketers in Grodno, also harm Poles themselves, for whom friendly Belarus, which has been offering visa-free travel in recent months, has supposedly been “one of the most important tourist and commercial destinations” .
– rated Stanisław Żaryn.
He also pointed out that, in connection with the decision of the Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration to close the border crossing in Bobrowniki, the Belarusian authorities have been accusing the Polish government for several days of confrontational, socially harmful policies that the Poles themselves are said to be in doubt.
Provocations on the border with Belarus committed by Polish authorities may soon receive a response from Minsk – the most bloodthirsty Belarusian propagandists scare
– emphasized Stanislaw Zaryn.
He also noted that “the attempt by the Belarusian regime to exert pressure through propaganda activities that stimulate social protests shows that the decision to close another border crossing with Belarus turned out to be painful for the soft underbelly of the Minsk regime.”
Closure of the border crossing in Bobrowniki
On February 9, Poland announced the closure of the border crossing in Bobrowniki, the last in the Grodno region, “due to the importance of state security”. The day before, a Belarusian court in Grodno sentenced Andrzej Poczobut, a Polish minority activist and journalist, to eight years in prison.
For more than a year, Bobrowniki was the only functioning border crossing into Belarus in Podlasie, handling freight and passenger traffic. Currently, there is not a single active border crossing with Belarus in Podlasie. On November 9, 2022, due to the migration crisis, the largest road crossing with Belarus in Kuźnica was closed until further notice. The crossing in Polowce is also closed.
