Ambassador Kelin says Britain is drafting law to confiscate Russian assets

Russia’s Ambassador to the UK, Andrei Kelin, said that London plans to seize Russia’s frozen assets in the kingdom and is preparing legislation for this. He said this in an interview DEA News.

The Ambassador noted that almost all Western countries consider the confiscation of any country’s property absolutely illegal.

So far there is no law allowing this, but according to Kelin they are being developed in the European Union and Washington. The diplomat also pointed out that the first case regarding the confiscation of personal assets has already taken place.

“This is not yet noted here, but there are assets, there is movement in this direction. Now I cannot yet resolve such situations, but preparations for some kind of legislation that will move in this direction are really underway, ”said Kelin.

On 7 February, British opposition Labor Party MP Chris Bryant introduced A bill in parliament on the seizure of frozen assets of the Russian Federation and their transfer to Ukraine.
