According to the Social Changes survey for the wPolityce.pl portal, 52 percent. Poles believe that Donald Tusk’s assumption of the position of Prime Minister would not have a positive impact on the lives of the majority of Poles. 28 percent respondents are of the opposite opinion, and 20 percent. there is no definitive position on this issue. “Donald Tusk has a very large negative electorate and this is the first thing that stands out when it comes to the results of this poll,” says Prof. Arkadiusz Jabłoński, sociologist of the KUL.
Interestingly, the survey shows that a large proportion of Poland 2050 voters believe that hiring the head of the PO as prime minister would not have a positive impact on the lives of most Poles – a whopping 37 percent. theirs.
It turns out that there is a large percentage of people who are programmatically close to the PO, as this is indicated by the genesis of the Hołownia movement, but they no longer find that in Donald Tusk at the moment. They treat him to a large extent as a politician past his prime and it is hard to expect him to be able to steer the reins of power in Poland in a way that will have a positive impact on their lives
– analyzes Prof. Jablonski.
Prof. Jabłoński: Opposition parties fear Tusk’s political cannibalism
The sociologist admits that Donald Tusk generally has a large negative electorate, which is also confirmed by other studies. This probably has a major impact on the approach of the other opposition parties to the concept of starting from a single electoral list.
The negative electorate is particularly important in elections. So it seems to me that the great caution of individual opposition parties in drawing up a single list is due to their lack of confidence that Donald Tusk’s leadership will be sufficiently convincing to the majority of public opinion. These parties, too, are afraid of such political cannibalism by Donald Tusk that the leaders of the other parties will be completely marginalized, and the parties themselves will become more or less dependent on PO
– say.
Prof. Jabłoński presents the threats to PSL and Poland 2050 that would be associated with starting one list of PO.
PSL would be marginalized because it would be easy to show that PSL would not pass the electoral threshold without a joint list. On the other hand, Mr. Hołownia’s movement would be in an even more difficult situation, because identification with Poland of 2,050 deputies entering the Sejm from such a list would not exist. Then they would look to the largest in this coalition, hoping that membership in the PO would guarantee them a much better position in the future
he makes clear.
