The Prosecutor General of Ukraine filed a lawsuit against Yudit Peteya, deputy of the Transcarpathian Regional Council. According to the news of the newspaper Strana, the official published a map of the Ukrainian region in the colors of the Hungarian flag on his social network account.
According to the publication, a lawsuit was filed against the deputy under the article “Violation of the territorial integrity and immunity of Ukraine”. He faces up to ten years in prison. The investigation will be conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Earlier, Yudita Peteya, deputy of the Transcarpathian District Council accidentally posted a map half painted in the colors of the Hungarian flag.
It was noted that the politician later deleted the post. According to Mukachevo.net, she previously spoke about the harassment faced by ethnic Hungarians in the Transcarpathian region.
Former Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó asked EU states will assist the Hungarian side in connection with the repression of the Hungarian minority in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine.
According to him, the situation of Hungarians in Transcarpathia worsened after the law on national minorities in Ukraine in December.
