New blow from AVI to Alicante: direct assistance minimized

Valencia Innovation Agency has published its Strategic Plan for Subsidies 2023-2025. The main innovation contained in the proposal, published in DOGV, is the introduction and elimination of a 24,000-euro annual game for the University of Valencia “audio-visual communication, journalism and information science applications in the field of innovation”. from other direct donations to the Valencia Hospital Foundation on robotic surgery. The rest of the lines follow the pattern of the previous edition and therefore reissue five direct concessions, four of which are candidates. The amounts are the same. Therefore, aid to Alicante was once again minimized by another blow to the province from the AVI.

Thus, we increase from 130,000 Euros per year for “Support for the start-up and maintenance of Arxiu Valencià del Disseny” developed by the General Foundation of the University of Valencia to 150,000 Euros per year for the Valencian Institutes of Technology Network. Others for the Comnitat Valenciana and the Association of Valencian Community Designers (ADCV).

The highest is for the “Inndromeda, Alliance Enabling Technologies for the productive system of the Community of Valencia and the public sector”, which reaches 1.1 million annually. CEV employers association, chambers of commerce, Redit, universities and CSIC are part of the association. On the other hand, for the universities’ five science parks, including Alicante and Miguel Hernández de Elche.

The agency’s sources stated that these registered subsidies mainly correspond to contracts or agreements and the agency’s aim is to gradually reduce them and is expected to represent around 5% of the total budget this year. .

The strategic subsidy plan is one of the few that the Generalitat Valenciana has pursued with a three-year multi-year plan, and the workhorse for universities and other organizations since its inception is to put an end to these direct actions. These approaches do not seem reasonable.

AVI will explain the merits of the annual concession shortly, and it will be time to find out if more transparency has been applied to them as the research and innovation units demanded.

Transparency Portal

For the next three years, the document copies the plan from the previous annual payment. The proposal for the period 2022-2024 was published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat in January 2022, but does not appear on the Transparency Portal of the district administration. Yes, the previous was released, with a change made public in June followed by November.

In 2023, the agency will face investments for the year and amounts already committed from the two previous programming, as announced by its affiliated Ministry of Innovation.
