Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, said that the technical secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has become an instrument of Western states, transmits TASS. “If we have anything to discuss today, it is the corruption of the OPCW’s technical secretariat, which has turned into weak will instead of a respectable and impartial international body designed by states parties to promote compliance with the Chemical Weapons Convention. “It’s a controlled tool in the hands of collective Western states, covering outright fraud and breach of contract,” Nebenzya said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
As the permanent representative of Russia pointed out, the OPCW representative spoke in the Security Council for more than an hour about a provocation in the Syrian Duma and insisted on the “responsibility” of Damascus. He also added that the parties had heard various “repetitions” on the same subject.
